Polarimetric filtering removes non-meteorological interference signals to improve data quality.

Background air quality observations
The data includes real-time station-specific air quality observations maintained by the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Concentrations of air pollutants are measured using continuous automatic measuring devices. The data consists of hourly averages that are updated once an hour. There are five pollutant compounds in total (SO2, NO2,O3, PM10, PM2.5), but the range of compounds to be measured varies by measuring station.
Climate reference values for meteorological observations
The climatic reference values for weather observations for the 30-year periods 1971-2000, 1981-2010 and 1991-2020 contain statistical data on atmospheric pressure, air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, snow depth, wind, sunshine and total radiation at the meteorological stations of the Finnish Meteorological Institute during those periods.
Daily values of weather observations
The data contains calculated and measured daily values from the Finnish Meteorological Institute's weather observation stations starting from 1844. Calculated values are the daily average air temperature and the daily precipitation. The measured values are minimum and maximum air temperature, minimum ground temperature and snow depth. The extremes of the air temperature are measured at 06 and 18 UTC and the minimum ground temperature at 06 UTC. These represent extreme values over the last 12 hours (18-06 and 06-18 UTC).
FMI-ENFUSER air quality model
FMI-ENFUSER (The Finnish Meteorological Institute's ENvironmental information FUsion SERvice) produces air quality information for urban areas with high resolution. The model is based on instantaneous emission dispersion modelling (Gaussian puff) and utilizes historical air quality measurement data as well as the latest available air quality observations from the modelling area. The background concentrations of pollutants and long-range transport are obtained from the regional scale model (FMI-SILAM). Meteorological data for the dispersion model can be obtained from weather forecasting models such as HIRLAM, ECMWF or GFS depending on the modelling range.
Flash observations
The Finnish Meteorological Institute's lightning locator detects and locates lightning throughout Finland. The observations include ground lightning with partial strikes and some cloud lightning. However, the observing efficiency of cloud flashes is significantly lower than that of earth balms. The most important parameters indicated by the locator are time and location information. The system also reports estimates of peak current and positioning inaccuracies, among other things. In the case of earth balms, the positioning accuracy (ground contact point) is typically less than 1 km, but the positioning accuracy varies from location to location. In total, the data contains the entire allowed continuum up to a maximum value of 25 km. For cloud galaxies, error estimates are typically higher, but on the other hand, their location cannot be precisely determined by a single point (there is no earth contact).
Mast observations
The data includes temperature, relative humidity and wind observations from the three mast measurement sites of the Finnish Meteorological Institute. These observations range from 2 metres to 327 metres, depending on the mast site.
